Leeds City Council and Yorkshire Energy Services are working in partnership to bring you Wrap Up Leeds.
Wrap Up Leeds offers FREE cavity wall insulation and FREE loft insulation for a limited period allowing you to make savings of up to £300 a year. *These statistics are from the Energy Saving Trust, based on an average three bedroom semi-detached property. To see how much you could save, find your property type in the handy savings table on the right of this page.
Wrap Up Leeds is available to anyone who owns their own home or privately rents inside the Leeds City Council area. Most homes will qualify for completely free insulation, and some larger homes may be asked to pay a contribution towards the work.

- What’s the catch?
- There is no catch. Leeds City Council is working with Yorkshire Energy Services to provide insulation for up to 15,000 homes. We’re doing this because we want to help reduce your gas and electricity bills, especially if you’re struggling to meet rising fuel prices. It will also create local jobs and reduce the amount of harmful carbon dioxide produced in the city.
- What does the free promotion include?
- Free cavity wall insulation and/or free loft insulation or adding extra loft insulation known as 'topping up' ‘to the recommended 270mm depth.
- How much will installing loft insulation save me?
- Installing loft insulation can save up to £175 a year*. Adding extra insulation to take you from 60mm or more to the recommended 270mm could save around £50 a year*
- How much will installing cavity wall insulation save me?
- Installing cavity wall insulation reduces the amount of heat you lose through the walls by about 35% in a typical three bedroom semi detached property which can make savings around £135 a year.*
- I’ve heard cavity wall insulation can cause damp is this true?
- Cavity wall insulation does not cause damp in your home. It is best to check during the free, technical survey provided that your walls are in good condition and free from damp before having cavity wall insulation installed. All cavity wall insulation comes with a 25 year industry backed guarantee from the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency (CIGA).
